One of my first writing mentors and teachers, Susan Shapiro, just came out with a new book, Secrets of a Fix-Up Fanatic, on how to get hitched. Shapiro knows of what she writes, having been a amateur fixer-upper for many, and having been fixed up herself in the relationship that culiminated in her marriage (and in the one with her husband’s “runner-up”) Shapiro is on tour right now, and the schedule is posted on her site. I’m also looking forward to her next book, Only As Good as Your Word (coming out in the Fall of 2007), which is about literary mentors. How cool will it be to read a book about mentors, written by one of my own?
Sue and I will be doing a joint reading of our new books at the Columbus Circle Borders on March 29th at 7pm.
