I like to shake things up a lot. These days I dedicate most of my time to Civic Ventures, a nonprofit think tank leading the call for encore careers, work with social impact in the second half of life. I’m also on the advisory boards of The Op-Ed Project, an initiative expanding the range of voices we hear from in the world, and SheWrites.com, an online community for women writers.
Before joining Civic Ventures, I spent a decade as an independent journalist/author/educator/speaker focused on the new landscape of work. My book, “One Person/Multiple Careers” popularized the term “slasher” for those who can’t answer the question “What do you do?” with a single word or phrase.
